2026 Junior Cracker Day Rodeo Rules

General Rules

Contestants age calculated as of 01/01/26

Start time 11AM

ALL SIGN UPS ARE ONLINE AT RBBR.ORG

Leadline: 10 contestants max per event

Peewee/Junior/Teen: 15 max per event


NO SLACK


Electronic timer, score board and stop watches will be used to time all events

Contestants will be disqualified for running out of order. It is the contestant’s responsibility to know their draw position

Contestants will be given 3 minutes to enter the arena from their first gate call. Additionally, they will be given 2 more gate calls in that 3-minute window, otherwise, they will be disqualified.

Contestants are not permitted to run through the gate. They must be in the alley way to start running.

Contestants will be given a NO TIME if they or their horse falls during competition.

TIES: In the event of a TIE for any position, where payout is involved, the # of places that TIE will all receive the same amount of payout. The payout is computed by adding together the payout of all the TIE positions, then dividing that total money by the number of places that TIE.

EXAMPLE: TIE for places 1 & 2. Place 1 is $500, Place 2 is $250, Total money is $750. $750 divided by 2 places is $375 for each payout position that is involved with this TIE.


JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL. ALL GREIVANCES MUST BE ADDRESSED BY THE END OF THE DAY OF OCCURRENCE.

 

 

Dress Code Requirements

Cowboy Dress Code: Required for all competitors during:

  A) Competing in the arena

  B) Preparing in roping boxes, warm-up areas, and bucking chutes

  C) COWBOY HAT OR HELMET: Must be on when entering the arena, (the alley is not considered the arena), the arena starts at the south end of the alley.  If the hat/helmet is not on when entering the arena it will result in disqualification.  Contestants may wear appropriate riding safety helmets in place of a cowboy hat.  Removing the hat intentionally will be disqualified.  If the hat/helmet comes off while in the arena, there is NO hat/helmet fine. Any intentional tipping of the hat or similar actions will be considered out of dress code.

Violators may receive:

  A) Verbal notice and opportunity to change

  B) Possible time penalty or disqualification from the event or rodeo

Western Style Shirt:

  A) Long sleeves,collar,and button-down the front

  B) Must be worn and tucked in at all times

  C) Shirtsleeves must be rolled down

  D) Exception for rough stock events: sleeves may be rolled up to the elbow on the riding arm only  during preparation and competition

  E) Western Hat: Any style

  F) Boots: No tennis shoe boots allowed.

  A) Must be wearing jeans


Entry Rules

All entries for all events will be via RBBR.ORG

Online entries will Open Feb 16th at 8 AM … Entries will close on Feb 19th 5PM, 2026

No entries or entry fees will be accepted on site

Feb 23rd, 2026, at midnight is the deadline for paying entry fees. Invoices will be emailed to each contestant by email provided at time of entry.

If entry fees have not been paid by this time, your entry will be removed.

The vet out and schedule conflict draw out deadline is March 2th, 2026, at 6 PM

Documentation required for refund.

Youth Rodeo Contestants can enter into a higher age group, but not a lower age group for each event.

Contestants can only enter one (1) time in each event.


LeadLine Barrels

All Riders & Lead Person are to line up in front of the bucking chutes when called to enter the arena ... Rider must have a person leading them with a lead line attached to halter or headstall

The Rider/Leader will be instructed when to go

Rider and Leader must complete the entire pattern with no deviation

The Rider/Leader with the fastest time including penalties wins.


LeadLine Goat Undecorating

Rider and Lead Person will line up in front of the Bucking Chutes when announced

Rider must have a person leading them with a lead line attached to halter or headstall

The Rider/Leader will be instructed when to go (designated flag person), leader is to lead (walk, trot, or lope) the rider/horse to the designated location of the goat.

The Rider is to dismount (Lead person or assigned rodeo personnel will/can assist with dismount)

Goat will be on a lead attached to a stake in the ground with a ribbon on their tail.

 

Time starts when rider crosses the electric timer

Time stops when rider pulls ribbon from goats’ tail and signals with arms up, judge acknowledges with a flag.


 

PeeWee Goat Undecorating

Goat will be on a lead attached to a stake in the ground with a ribbon on their tail.

Rider is to walk, trot or lope to the goat, dismount and pull ribbon from goats’ tail

Time starts when rider crosses the electric timer

Time stops when rider pulls ribbon from goats’ tail and signals with arms up, judge acknowledges with a flag.


 

Junior Goat Tail Tying … Standard Goat Tying

It is a timed event with a limit of Forty-five (45) seconds

Goats will be staked on rope at the end of the arena

Contestants will be instructed as to what side of the arena to go to.

Goat will be held facing starting line, at furthest point away from contestant and will be released as starting flag drops

Contestant walks, trots or gallops to the designated goat and dismounts

Contestant will cross and tie any three (3) legs with leather thong or pigging string, with one (1) or more wraps and a half hitch, hooey or knot

The contestant raises their arms and steps back two (2) steps to indicate to the Judge they have completed the tie.

The goat must stay tied for six (6) seconds; time will not start until the contestant raises their arms and steps back.

If horse fouls rope or goat while contestant is mounted or dismounted, contestant will receive a NO TIME

If goat is down, it must be brought to its feet then thrown

If tie comes loose or legs are not crossed after contestant calls for time and before the six (6) seconds time limit will result in a NO TIME

The Contestant cannot touch the goat or tie after signaling for time.


Teen Goat Tail Tying … Standard Goat Tying

It is a timed event with a limit of Forty-five (45) seconds

Rider can go to the left or right

5 second penalty for each barrel knocked over

Going off pattern, circling a barrel more than once or breaking the timer during the run results in a NO TIME

Fastest Time wins, including penalties.


Junior Barrel Racing

Standard Barrel Pattern

Rider can go to the left or right

5 second penalty for each barrel knocked over

Going off pattern, circling a barrel more than once or breaking the timer during the run results in a NO TIME

Fastest Time wins, including penalties.


Teen Barrel Racing

Standard Barrel Pattern

Rider can go to the left or right

5 second penalty for each barrel knocked over

Standard Breakaway, Male or Female can enter for Youth Rodeo

30-second time limit

Standard Pole Pattern

Rider can go left or right

5 second penalty for each pole knocked down

Going off pattern results in NO TIME.

Going off pattern results in NO TIME.


Teen Pole Bending
